Former USS Cole commander slams Obama on Guantanamo

By Carol Rosenberg Miami Herald

The former commander of the USS Cole, the American war ship that was struck by a suicide boat in Yemeni waters more than eight years ago, on Thursday slammed President Barack Obama's orders to close the Guantanamo detention center and reassess the prisoners being held there.
''We shouldn't make policy decisions based on human rights and legal advocacy groups,'' retired U.S. Navy Cmdr. Kurt Lippold said in a telephone interview. "We should consider what is best for the American people, which is not to jeopardize those who are fighting the war on terror — or even more adversely impact the families who have already suffered loses as a result of the war."
Lippold was responding to the decision by a U.S. military judge in Guantanamo to reject a request by Pentagon lawyers to delay next week's scheduled arraignment of Abd el Rahim al Nashiri, a Saudi Arabian who's charged with helping orchestrate the October 2000 suicide bombing of the Cole. The bombing killed 17 U.S. sailors.

Obama Signs Fair Pay Act - His Female Staffers Made 78% of Males' Pay in Senate

Friday, January 30, 2009By Fred Lucas, Staff Writer

(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama, keeping a campaign pledge, signed a law Thursday to make it easier to sue employers for pay discrimination. In a ceremony in the East Room of the White House flanked by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vice President Joe Biden, Obama spoke as Lilly Ledbetter – a former Goodyear Tire manager from Alabama, whose case inspired the new law – stood beside him. “While this bill bears her name, Lilly knows this story isn’t just about her,” Obama said. “It is a story of women across this country still earning just 78 cents for every $1 men earn, women of color even less, which means that today in the year 2009, countless women are still losing thousands of dollars in salary, income, and retirement savings over the course of a lifetime.”

Iran says Obama's offer to talk shows US failure

US President Barack Obama's offer to talk to Iran shows that America's policy of "domination" has failed, the government spokesman said on Saturday.
"This request means Western ideology has become passive, that capitalist thought and the system of domination have failed," Gholam Hossein Elham was quoted as saying by the Mehr news agency.
"Negotiation is secondary, the main issue is that there is no way but for (the United States) to change," he added.
After nearly three decades of severed ties, Obama said shortly after taking office this month that he is willing to extend a diplomatic hand to Tehran if the Islamic republic is ready to "unclench its fist".
In response, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad launched a fresh tirade against the United States, demanding an apology for its "crimes" against Iran and saying he expected "deep and fundamental" change from Obama.

An Excellent Speech By Robert Spencer

From Jihad Watch:

The Seeds of Liberalism

By Jesse Petrilla
FrontPageMagazine.com | Thursday, January 29, 2009

I just returned to America from Europe where I lead an incredible delegation to meet with European leaders in an effort to see a glimpse into a possible future for America by viewing the end results of years of failed liberal policies on European nations. Let these experiences and facts serve as the warning to what will be the result if we blindly continue on a path of destruction sewn by politicians who believe socialism, appeasement, and other leftist policies will benefit America in any way.

The trip started in Paris, the beautiful vacation land of good food, fine wine, arts, and European culture, or so I thought. Our tour guide in this city was the brilliant scholar Nidra Poller, whose insights and knowledge on French society shed light on everything we saw. She explained the social climate, the attitude of the government, and the current tensions and growing antisemitism that exists in the city. On the first day of our trip, local news reported that another synagogue was firebombed, a 4th that week, and a man had just been stabbed for wearing a Star of David by the notorious “disenfranchised youths” as the media calls them. Two days prior, there was a “peace” rally which resulted in the burning of dozens of cars, again by those pesky “youths” who for some reason yell “Allah Akbar” while rioting. We did an in studio interview on French radio where I bluntly explained to them that their problems were brought on by their leftist politicians who feel the need to push socialist and other leftist policies which have enabled all this to occur. Unfortunately these policies of open borders, refugee resettlement, welfare, and others, are exactly the same policies that the liberals in congress and the state assembly are constantly pushing here in America.

Social services remove young children from grandparents and arrange adoption by gay couple

Social services have removed two young children from the care of their grandparents and arranged for them to be adopted by a homosexual couple.

By Lucy Cockcroft (The Telegraph)
Last Updated: 2:45PM GMT 28 Jan 2009

The five-year-old boy and his four-year-old sister were being looked after by their grandparents because their mother, a recovering drug addict, was not considered capable.

But social workers stepped in after allegedly deciding that the couple, who are aged 59 and 46, were "too old" to look after the children.

They were allegedly stripped of their carer's rights and informed they would be barred from seeing the children altogether unless they agreed to the same-sex adoption.

The distraught grandfather said: "It breaks my heart to think that our grandchildren are being forced to grow up in an environment without a mother-figure.

"We are not prejudiced, but I defy anyone to explain to us how this can be in their best interests.

"The ideal for any child is to have a loving father and a loving mother in their lives."

His wife added: "It's so important for children to fit in, and I feel our grandchildren will be marked out from the start when they draw pictures of their two dads."

The case raises fears about state interference in family arrangements, and concerns about the practice of adoption by same-sex couples.

Social workers at the City of Edinburgh Council have been accused of waging a "two-year campaign" through the courts to strip the grandparents of their legal rights as carers of the children.

Hill Republican: Stimulus aids illegal immigrants

Jan 29 12:02 PM US/Eastern
By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - The $800 billion-plus economic stimulus measure making its way through Congress could steer government checks to illegal immigrants, a top Republican congressional official asserted Thursday.
The legislation, which would send tax credits of $500 per worker and $1,000 per couple, expressly disqualifies nonresident aliens, but it would allow people who don't have Social Security numbers to be eligible for the checks.

Undocumented immigrants who are not eligible for a Social Security number can file tax returns with an alternative number. A House-passed version of the economic recovery bill and one making its way through the Senate would allow anyone with such a number, called an individual taxpayer identification number, to qualify for the tax credits.

A revolt among GOP conservatives to similar provisions of a 2008 economic stimulus bill, which sent rebate checks to most wage earners, forced Democratic congressional leaders to add stricter eligibility requirements. That legislation, enacted in February 2008, required that people have valid Social Security numbers in order to get checks.

Why I converted

By
Zakaryia Ezzat

I was born here in America to an Egyptian Sunni-Muslim father and a Scottish-American protestant mother. Just before I was born something important happened that would determine my circumstances. My mother was forced by the Islamic Mosque in Lansing, Michigan to sign a contract ensuring that I and my sister twin sister Sarah would be raised not as Christians but as Muslims. Upon my birth into this world my father whispered something that would again seal my fate and that was “la elaha ilallah wa Mohamed rasul lellah” which means there is “no God but Allah and Mohamed

is his messenger.” From that point on I was obligated both from my name and my circumstances to live a Muslim life. When I was two years of age my family moved to Cairo, Egypt. We lived in a famous area of Cairo known as Seyata Zeynab. During my time in Egypt I was further ingrained with Islam as my religion. Although my mother was Christian and a strong Christian, she was not allowed to relay her beliefs on to her children. As my sister and I became more ingrained with the culture and the religion my mother knew that if we stayed in Egypt we would not only become Muslim but I would not experience religious freedom. Religious freedom may be something that people down play and take for granted in the Western world but it is not something my mother wanted me to live without, as my mother recognized there was no religious tolerance in Egypt unless you are Sunni Muslim. To make another point even if I was too become a Christian in Egypt I would have been either killed or put in prison. This is because in Egypt you can’t change your religious origins, if your father is Muslim you are Muslim are and there is no questioning that.
This is the only way Islam can function in society because if there is freedom many people will leave Islam and it will cease as the dominant religion.

In order to learn Arabic my dad put me with an Islamic tutor by the name of Ahmed Al-Jamal at the Islamic Center of Mt. Pleasant in Michigan. One day we were going over vocabulary. One of the words in the vocabulary list was “Israel” Ahmed yelled at the book and looked at me, and taught me one of my first Arabic sentences, which was “Ana bakrah Yisrael” which means “I hate Israel.”
My mom managed to leave Egypt when I was 4 years old. My dad was not able to follow us immediately because the Egyptian government would not let him out of the country. Eventually my dad got a job in the United States as a professor and reunited with me, my mother, and my sister. From that point on my dad consistently took me and my sister to the mosque every Friday. It was not in Egypt but in America where I learned most of what I know about Islam. Every Friday I went to the mosque and learned the fundamental teachings of Islam. I noticed in this time that these mosques fostered an incredible hatred and resentment towards Jews and America. Jews were seen as the worst most evil human being that could not under any circumstances be trusted. When I heard the incredible hate speech I either would down play it in my head or dismiss it altogether. I remembered one sermon during my freshman year of college given by a Palestinian man by the name of Tariq at the mosque in Mt. Pleasant, MI. His focus was on the horrible acts of the Jews and there oppression of the Arabic people. He concluded his sermon with saying that if he was in Palestine right now he would blow himself up. Tariq was not some uneducated peasant he is a brilliant physics professor in Central Michigan University. This well educated man just admitted to everyone in the mosque that he would commit a terrorist act. Terrorism in the Middle East is a result of the fundamental teachings of the Quran. This is a conclusion that I came to not by doing an internship with Al-Qaeda but by spending time in the American Mosques and as my time as a Muslim I would have attended over twenty mosques in various parts of the USA. In addition after Tariq’s sermon nobody challenged him or refuted what he said. To put this in perspective this man admitted that he would commit a terrorist act and nobody challenged him, in fact it would be most if not all would agree with him.

In the first semester of my second year of college I lived in the dorms. During this time I befriended a Yemenite kid by the name of Khalid. Khalid and I were the only Arabs and the only Muslims in the dorms so naturally we became quick friends. One day we were eating at the cafeteria with some of the other kids. We all started to talk about Arabs, Jews, and the state of Israel. Khalid proceeded to talk about how he does not hate Jews and that Jews have a high status in the Quran because they are people of the book. After all the other kids left the table Khalid leaned over to me and said “Zakaryia one day we will fight and kill the Jews and we will win.” I found it interesting how Khalid’s tone changed when all the “non-Muslims” left the table.
In the second semester of my sophomore year I traveled to Egypt for an intensive Arabic program at Alexandria University. When I got to Egypt I visited with my family in Cairo. I was talking to my cousin Khalid. Khalid talked a lot about Islam and religion. At some point in the conservation I said to Khalid “God loves everybody right?” Khalid then said to me “No God doesn’t love everyone he loves everyone to be good but he doesn’t love everyone. That’s a very Christian thing to say.”

During my time in Egypt I would frequently visit with my friend Ibrahim at the local dry cleaners. Everyone there were under the impression that I was Muslim so the way they would talk to me would be different than if they talked to a Westerner. One day a wealthy engineer came into the drycleaners he looked at me and asked me my name. I told him, he then paused and asked me if I was Muslim, I nodded yes. He then sat down with me and began preaching Islam to me. He mainly talked about “the day of judgment” in Islamic text. He began to tell of how the “day of judgment” will not come until there is a big war between the Muslims and the Jews (and the Christians who did not convert to Islam). He then quoted The Hadith Sahih Al-Bukari Book 52 number 176-177 which states “Allah’s Apostle said, “You (i.e. Muslims) will fight with the Jews till some of them will hide behind stones. The stones will (betray them) saying, ‘O ‘Abdullah (i.e. slave of Allah)! There is a Jew hiding behind me; so kill him.’ “Allah’s Apostle said, “The Hour will not be established until you fight with the Jews, and the stone behind which a Jew will be hiding will say.”O Muslim! There is a Jew hiding behind me, so kill him.” Basically he explained to me that in the Day of Judgment we Muslims will get to slaughter all the Jews in the world.

He then proceeded by telling me that peace will come to the Earth only when Islam is “the” religion not a religion and everyone who is not Muslim has either been killed or submitted to the Islamic state. This man was not some crazy radical he was a well educated wealthy engineer. In addition he did not speak without references everything he said was backed up by the Quran or the Hadith.Going into my sophomore year of college I was well entrenched as a Muslim but something happened that opened my eyes to everything, I went to Egypt. I was in Egypt for an intensive Arabic program. As I started to read Quran in Arabic I began to have a better understanding of the teachings of the Quran and Islam in general. The turning point came when I was reading chapter 9 verse 5 of the Quran which states “When the forbidden months have past then fight and slay the pagans where you find them and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them In every stratagem of war….” I was in the room I was sharing with a friend and I saw his bible beside his bed, I asked him if I could read it. I picked up the bible and just began reading it. I saw the love and tolerance of the bible and was very much inspired by it. Even though I had Christian influences from my mother it really wasn’t until this point that I really made a conscious decision to let Jesus Christ into my life. My mother was very happy to know that I had embraced Christianity because at the time she believed me to be Muslim. However, I was very fearful to come out as a Christian because of my heavy Muslim background and the consequences of embracing a different faith.
When I came back to America I did not come out as a Christian right away. I continued to go to the mosque every Friday. One day I was in the Mosque and noticed some white guy with a big camera. I went up to my friend Sharif and asked him who that man was. Sharif told me he was some reporter from the Reno Gazette Journal and he was doing a story on Islam. He then leaned over to me and said “I had to warn the Imam to be different.” If Islam is a religion of peace why does the Imam need to be different every time a non-Muslim comes into the equation?

Everything changed when I invited Walid Shoebat and Kamal Saleem to talk on my campus. These two men are big enemies in the eyes of the Muslim community because of the fact that there were Muslims and converted to Christianity. Inviting them to speak on campus really raised questions about whether I was Muslim or Christian. It was not long until everyone in the Muslim community knew that I was a Christian. As result I have experienced a lot of negativity toward me. I have been called ironically ignorant of Islam, racist, and islamaphobic. The most important thing I must do in the mists of all this is to have love for the ones that hate me because I cannot counter hate with more hate. As a Christian I love everyone and that includes the Jews and Israel and the Muslims and the Arab world. To counter the hate we must expose it first and by doing so many Muslims who currently go with the status quo will stand with the West because they see the firmness of our resolve. What they see now is Western weakness and no chance of being protected if they stand with us in the West.

Obama, Iran Talks Next?

FOXNews.com

Monday, January 26, 2009

U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice restates President Obama's calls for direct negotiations with Iran.

President Obama did a quick pivot Monday, shifting his focus to foreign policy by contacting a handful of major world leaders -- including Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and French President Nikolas Sarkozy -- as his new U.N. ambassador restated the desire for vigorous and "direct diplomacy" with Iran.

Obama spoke with the foreign leaders ahead of a meeting with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and his Middle East envoy George Mitchell, who was leaving immediately afterward for a trip to the region. Mitchell will go to Cairo, Egypt; Jersusalem, Israel; Ramallah in the West Bank; Amman, Jordan; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. He will also visit Paris and London.

Bomber's Martyrdom Tape Renews Fears Over Consequences of Closing Gitmo

FOX News

As President Obama pushes for the closure of Guantanamo Bay prison, the debate over where to house the terror detainees being held there is heating up.

An exclusive video of a former Gitmo detainee's martyrdom tape, obtained by FOX News, is a reminder of the concerns that terror suspects — who have been held but released from Guantanamo Bay — are increasingly returning to the fight against the United States and its allies.

Abdallah Ali al-Ajmi was transferred back to his home country of Kuwait after his release from Guantanamo in 2005. Last April he blew himself up in a homicide attack that killed 12 people in Mosul, Iraq.

Jailed For An Insult?

by Robert Spencer

01/28/2009

“You can’t just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done,” said Barack Obama to Republican leaders Friday. The new president seems to want to make sure that as few people listen to Rush Limbaugh as possible. Senator Mike Enzi (R-WY) warned Thursday that “legislation is brewing on Capitol Hill that would take away free speech from broadcasters by reinstating a law” -- the infamous “Fairness Doctrine” -- “that would require talk shows to provide equal time coverage of opposing viewpoints on any issues they discuss.”

This would wipe out conservative talk shows like Limbaugh’s by mandating that programming reflecting a liberal perspective be aired for “balance” if the conservative shows are aired at all -- and with the mainstream media already heavily tilted toward the Left, this would effectively stifle voices that dissent from the Left/liberal line. “The ‘fairness doctrine’ is a violation of free speech,” said Enzi.

Nor is that all. The White House website pledges that “President Obama and Vice President Biden will strengthen federal hate crimes legislation…” The problem with this, of course, is that “hate” is in the eye of the beholder, so “hate crime” laws are essentially tools for enforcing officially-endorsed views. It’s another form of censorship.

Sharia court frees London knife youths

Martin Bentham, Home Affairs Editor
08.02.08

Sharia law "courts" are already dealing with crime on the streets of London, it has emerged.

The revelation came after the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, called for an "accommodation" with parts of the Islamic legal code in a speech which attracted widespread condemnation.

The Archbishop said parts of civil law could be dealt with under the sharia system but already some communities have gone much further - and it was revealed today that a teenage stabbing case among the Somali community in Woolwich had been dealt with by a sharia "trial".

Youth worker Aydarus Yusuf, 29, who was involved in setting up the hearing, said a group of Somali youths were arrested by police on suspicion of stabbing another Somali teenager.

The victim's family told officers the matter would be settled out of court and the suspects were released on bail. A hearing was convened and elders ordered the assailants to compensate the victim.

"All their uncles and their fathers were there," said Mr Yusuf. "So they all put something towards that and apologised for the wrongdoing."

An Islamic Council in Leyton also revealed that it had dealt with more than 7,000 divorces while sharia courts in the capital have settled hundreds of financial disputes.

Today's revelations came as controversy raged over Dr Williams's call for parts of sharia law to be adopted in Britain.

His comments were condemned by Downing Street, the Tories and the chairman of the Government's Equalities and Human Rights Commission. They were described as a "recipe for chaos" by Culture Secretary Andy Burnham.

Along with the Islamic Council in Leyton, there are reports of at least two other sharia courts sitting in London. There are also courts in a number of other areas of the country with high Muslim populations, including Dewsbury in West Yorkshire, Birmingham and Rotherham, South Yorkshire.

A tragically clueless California girl

As they say on the TV show "24," the following took place last week between 9 and 10 p.m. on a flight from Los Angeles to Denver.

I spoke for a few minutes to the 20-year-old woman seated across the aisle from me.

She: What brings you to Denver?
Me: I am giving a speech.

She: What do you do?

Me: I'm a radio talk-show host.

She: Who did you vote for?

Me: McCain

She: Why?

Me: Smaller government and the war on terror.

She: Terror is the new communism.

Me: Communism killed about a hundred million people. And who do you think attacked and killed 3,000 of us on Sept. 11?

She: The government.

For the record, as I believe this to be essential to understanding this young woman's views, she is a student attending the University of California Santa Barbara.

Truth is she had to be a student at a major university. She would never have come up with "Terror is the new communism" on her own. It is a moral obscenity that one has to learn.

Contraceptives Good For The Economy

Carter: Hamas can be trusted

Former president, in interview with NBC, claims Palestinian group 'adhered to ceasefire', adds 'ME peace not possible without Hamas involvement'

Yitzhak Benhorin Published: 01.26.09, 19:17 / Israel News

Hamas can be trusted, former US President Jimmy Carter said Monday, in an interview on NBC's 'Today' show. Carter spoke with NBC's Meredith Vieira about his perspective on the Middle East conflict, and his new book, "We Can Have Peace in the Holy Land."

According to the former president, Hamas never deviated from their commitments as per the ceasefire agreement. He said that, during his meetings with Hamas leaders in Damascus and Gaza, he was promised that Hamas would honor agreements between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israel, as long as they were supported by public referendum.

Hamas did bad things. I'm not defending them. But they did adhere to the ceasefire fully, Carter maintained. He added that Israel has a choice between a one-state solution – which is, for Israel, a catastrophe, and a two-state solution, which everyone would support.

In his interview, Carter explained the rationale behind his book, saying "I am writing another book about the Middle East because the new president of the United States is facing a major opportunity — and responsibility — to lead in ending conflict between Israel and its neighbors. The time is now. Peace is possible."

'Desire for peaceful and prosperous lives'
He also attempted to explain the controversy over his previous book, "Palestine: Peace, Not Apartheid," noting that the use of the word apartheid was provocative and claiming that it had triggered a debate over the use of the word, rather than the content of his book.

Sunday, Carter met with President Barack Obama's new US envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell. While Carter is not certain Obama should speak directly with Hamas, he believes that Mitchell should, explaining that "there won't be peace in the Middle East without Hamas involvement."

Instant Bestseller: Pocket Obama

Now the Cult of Obama has its own little pocket "holy book," so that the cult followers can carry around with them at all times the important words of "The One."

The book went on sale on January 8, 2009, and is already sold out at Amazon. From the Amazon web site (emphases mine):
Product Description
Printed in a size that easily fits into pocket or purse, this book is an anthology of quotations borrowed from Barack Obama's speeches and writings. POCKET OBAMA serves as a reminder of the amazing power of oratory and the remarkable ability of this man to move people with his words. His superb and captivating oratory style has earned comparisons to John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, and this collection presents words that catapulted his remarkable rise to the American Presidency. Includes themes of democracy, politics, war, terrorism, race, community, jurisprudence, faith, personal responsibility, national identity, and above all, his hoped-for vision of a new America. This book is truly a primer for readers who want to examine the substance of his thought and reflect on the next great chapter in the American story. It is an unofficial requirement for every citizen to own, to read, and to carry this book at all times.
Midnight Rider made the following astute observation and has the screenshots to prove what might disappear from Amazon as complaints and satiric reviews appear at the web site:
Particularly disturbing, when you roll over other images beneath the main, Chairman Mao's Little Red Book comes up.
When John F. Kennedy was elected, his book Profiles in Courage became required reading for many students in high school and at the university level. But Kennedy's book was never lauded in the same manner and, as far as I know, never had a special little edition of "The One's" words to carry over one's heart. In other words, Kennedy's book did not begin to approach the tone of cult. After he was assassinated, yes, the Cult of Camelot arose. But, again, that particular cult never carried the impact and extent of what we're seeing right now before Barack Hussein Obama has served even a full week in office.

We are witnessing the Cult of Obama as it grows and grows and grows. Dangerous. Dangerous in the extreme.

This cult and other cults like it were foretold centuries ago by Jesus Christ, our Savior, in the Word of God:
And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. (Matthew 24:11)

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (Matthew 24:24)
We are also witnessing the harvest of souls as many Moslems have converted to the Way, the Truth, and the Life.

And the final victory will go to the One True God. This is our True Hope, not the hope of which Barack Hussein Obama and his sheeple speak.

The House of Lords Refuses To Watch Fitna

Via this posting at Dhimmi Watch:
LONDON, Jan 23 (APP)‑The British Parliament has cancelled the showing of a controversial film “Fitna” by the right‑win Dutch MP Geert Wilders following vociferous protest by the Muslim community.

The screening was to take place on January 29 at the House of Lords.

The decision to cancel the showing was taken on Friday when Lord Nazir Ahmed had a meeting with the Government Chief Whip of the House of Lords and Leader of the House of Lords, together with representatives from the Muslim Council of Britain, British Muslim Forum and other representatives from the British Muslim community....
More at the above link.

The UK is wimping out. And the objecting Moslems are declaring victory in the name of Allah.

The coming train wreck for the West and our way of life is racing now at breakneck speed.

Anti-Semitism Driven By Islam

As Moslems become greater in number in Western nations, they become bolder as well. Via this posting by Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch: (emphases mine)
Threats to Jews in New York, threats to Jews in London, threats to Jews all over. And yet the UN is focused on "Islamophobia," and Islamic advocacy groups in the U.S. have to manufacture hate crimes to shore up their victim status. When will this madness end? Is the West even still able to produce a political leader who will stand up to this? The free world needs to take a stand and make it clear to Muslims in the West that this is not tolerable. But I am not holding my breath.

"London - More Anti-Semitic Attacks in Golders Green," from Vos Iz Neias?, January 22 (thanks to all who sent this in):

London - The Jewish community in Golders Green has been the target of further anti-Semitic attacks, in the form of more offensive graffiti.
Graffiti reading "Kill the filthy Jews" was daubed on walls and pavements near Golders Green tube station and vandals wrote "Jihad 4 Israel" on top of Holocaust Memorial Day adverts....
Verbally uttered threats are happening too:
Joseph Haziza, 27, manager of Menachem Kosher butchers which is next to Sinclair Grove on Golders Green road, said: "In this area of Golders Green the graffiti hasn't been as bad. Further up the Golders Green Road they have been affected, with Muslims coming into Jewish shops and saying: 'I'm going to kill you'.
Clearly these Moslems are advocating a second Holocaust. How long will the West stand by and allow such terrorism?

Islam Is Like Smoking Marijuana

By Theodore Shoebat

The reason why I wrote the title (Islam Is Like Smoking Marijuana) is because of the suicidal tendencies both marijuana and Islam can bring to somebody and to a society (ex: the west bank, Gaza strip, you already know).

Here are some of the statistics the article ("Media Campaign Fact Sheets Marijuana and Mental Health.")brought to knowledge:

Teens age 12 to 17 who smoke marijuana weekly are three times more likely than non-users to have thoughts about committing suicide.

Some research shows that marijuana use can precede symptoms of depression. Girls (ages 14–15) who used marijuana daily were five times more likely to face depression at age 21. Weekly use among all teens studied doubled the risk for depression.

A study of adults found that marijuana use quadrupled the risk of later major depression.

A study of 1,265 children over a 21-year period found that marijuana use, particularly heavy or regular use, was associated with later increases in depression, suicidal thoughts and suicide attempts.

Past-year marijuana use has been linked to social withdrawal, anxiety, depression, attention problems and thoughts of suicide in adolescents.

Research with twins found that the twin who was dependent on marijuana was almost three times more likely to think about suicide and attempt suicide than his/her non-marijuana dependent co-twin.

Among men suffering from schizophrenia, those who had used marijuana were much more likely to experience their first psychotic episode at an early age.

A recent study found that that the earlier the use of marijuana (age 15 vs. age 18), the greater the risk of schizophrenia.

A study published in 2005 found that regular use of marijuana may double the risk of developing psychotic disorders and that marijuana causes chemical changes to the brain. The study maintains that smoking marijuana causes symptoms even when other factors are taken into consideration.

Also, In an article written by World Net Daily called "Palestinian children 'dream of martyrdom'":

A Palestinian psychologist claims that more than half of Palestinian children aged 6 to 11 dream of becoming suicide bombers,

The documentary says Dr. Shafiq Massalha conducted a study that has led him to conclude that "in about 10 years, a very murderous generation will come of age, full of hatred and ready to die in suicide missions," the Israeli National News Service reported.

In the film titled "Seeds of Hate," the narrator says: "In a society in which the legitimization of child murderers becomes a part of its ideology, then normative human morality no longer exists. Which moral rules shall these children pass onto their children when they in turn become parents?"

The scene moves to Arab men yelling and holding up pieces of human organs with a child's loud voice in the background saying, "I will eat the flesh of my conqueror."

The Independent said Massalha, with the assistance of teachers and social workers, distributed notebooks in the spring of 2001 to a random sample of 150 boys and girls aged 10 and 11. The psychologist asked the children to record their dreams every morning for 10 days and to illustrate them.

He found 78 percent of the dreams were political and tended to be physically violent.

"Suicide is a sickness, and [the terrorist leaders] are using it for perverse political ends," he said. "The increasing suicide actions, which receive support and admiration amongst Muslim youth in general and Palestinian youth in particular, have become one of our most dangerous social and psychological phenomena. …"

Do you see the similarities? Do you want your society to become violent and suicidal like it is in the Muslim world? If not then quit this tolerance toward marijuana - which is in my opinion - the worst drug on the list!

With Guantanamo closing, where will the detainees go?

By Scott Canon and David Goldstein | McClatchy Newspapers
LEAVENWORTH, Kan. — If not Guantanamo, then where?

Anything but a welcoming party is forming here.

When President Barack Obama signed an order Thursday forcing the closure of the Guantanamo Bay detention center within a year, he put in sharp relief the possibility that some of the world's most potentially dangerous terror suspects could be hauled to Kansas.

The U.S. Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth is on a list of imperfect choices for holding nearly 200 men whose legal status is as murky as their backgrounds.

Obama's long-promised action only heightened chances that Leavenworth could be the new focus for a contentious debate over how to prosecute non-citizens for alleged actions overseas, and whether their legal limbo has a foreseeable end.

"We're a military community and people understand that we need to do what the commander-in-chief says," said Andrea Adkins, Leavenworth's economic development administrator. "But there is a security threat any place where these people are located."

Kansas politicians and local government officials have complained loudly about the possibility of America's most troublesome captives being brought to the Midwest. Opponents' arguments center on security - both that the military prison might not be equipped for such high-risk inmates, and that the base and the community might be targeted by terrorists.

"This is just not going to happen on our watch," said Republican Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas.

Sen. Sam Brownback, another Kansas Republican, said he also has been told by officials from Muslim countries that they would no longer send officers to the Army Command and General Staff College if the detainees came to the Leavenworth Army base.

"We've already heard from students from Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia that they will leave, or be pulled by their governments, if the detainees from Guantanamo are moved there," Brownback said. "It's where these relationships are built with foreign officers, particularly in the Islamic world. This really hurts us."

Tribunal: 'Gay' rights trump Christianity

Counselor wins reinstatement, but on procedural grounds

Gary McFarlane

A British employment tribunal has ruled that a Christian counselor was wrongfully dismissed after he expressed reservations about offering sexual advice to homosexuals, but the judges rejected his claim of religious discrimination.

The ruling by the Bristol Employment Tribunal in the United Kingdom on Gary McFarlane, a relationship counselor with the company Relate Avon, is a disorganized precedent that should be addressed, according to Andrea Minichiello Williams of the Christian Legal Center, which worked on McFarlane's case.

"The law is in a confused state; in the case of Lillian Ladele, the Islington registrar, the court held that Christian belief must give way to the rights of same sex couples; but in the case of Gary McFarlane there is a finding of wrongful dismissal," Williams said. "The courts and public are confused; we call on the government to recognize the legitimate expression of conscience by Christians in the area of sexual orientation and provide protection where necessary."

If Not Gitmo, Then Where Should Detainees Be Held?

By Sophia Yan
TIME

With President Barack Obama having ordered the closure of the Guantánamo Bay military detention facility within a year, the U.S. faces the challenge of finding a new lockup for terrorism suspects currently behind bars and those captured in the future. Reports released by the Pentagon, the Center for American Progress and Human Rights Watch, among others, have recommended several possible sites, most of them in military bases. But moving the Gitmo inmates almost anywhere on U.S. soil would most likely set off a political firestorm.

Lawmakers troubled by reports on ex-Gitmo detainee

WASHINGTON (AP) — A congresswoman says reports that a man released from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is now an al-Qaida leader in Yemen should not slow the Obama administration's determination to quickly close the facility.

Rep. Jane Harman, a Democrat from California, said Friday that President Barack Obama has to "proceed extremely carefully" in closing the prison.

But she says there is no justification for "disappearing people" in a place outside the reach of U.S. law.

Congressman Pete Hoekstra, of Michigan, the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee, criticized Obama's executive order to close the prison as "very short on specifics."

Interviewed alongside Harman on CBS's "The Early Show," Hoekstra said as many as 10 percent of the men released from Guantanamo have returned to the battlefield.

One More Thing About Inauguration 2009

I'm worn out with talking about Tuesday's inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama.

I think that most of us feel the same way.

However, prompted by a comment I read, a comment stating that Presidents always take the oath of office by using their full names, I ran a quick search at YouTube and found the following:

Others, including Bill Clinton, have used their full names.

By insisting on taking the Presidential Oath of Office with his full name, Obama sent a clear message of "friendship" to the Islamic world. Historically, such friendships between the West and Islam have never worked out. The times haven't changed so much that two antitheses can be reconciled.

More importantly, good and evil cannot be partners. They are forever enemies, locked in battle until the Final Battle, to which the victory goes to the One True God, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Change we cannot believe in

WND, Judge Roy Moore.

Barack Obama, who campaigned on "Change We Can Believe In," was sworn in as the 44th president of the United States yesterday, Jan. 20, in the most expensive inauguration in the history of our country. Despite a bleak economy and a rising unemployment rate, Obama and we the taxpayers are estimated to have spent over $150 million. That is a lot of "change," to be sure.

While many in the country were welcoming the Obamas, the incoming president was busy putting out the welcome mat for the homosexual agenda. At the "We are One" gathering at the Lincoln Memorial on the Sunday before the Inauguration, Obama invited Bishop Gene Robinson, the first openly "gay" bishop ordained in the Episcopal Church, to give the opening prayer. It seems rather strange that an event to celebrate "unity" would begin with prayer by an individual whose homosexual conduct is responsible for one of the deepest divisions in the Episcopal Church in its history, as various dioceses have severed ties with the Episcopal Church to join the more conservative international Anglican community.

But even more shocking is the fact that Bishop Robinson was asked to pray at all. When questioned about the upcoming event by the Associated Press, Robinson assured them that he would "be careful not to be especially Christian in my prayer," and – not surprisingly – that he would not use a Bible. If that is the accepted view of our new president and those attending the event, then we are indeed in for a "change," but one actually contrary to our beliefs and very destructive of our national morality. Historically, there has never been a time when Christianity has been so openly shunned and homosexuality so expressly promoted.

Our first president would have been appalled at such "change." George Washington began a long tradition of adding "so help me God" to the constitutionally required presidential oath while resting his hand on the Holy Bible. The records of the National Archives show that, after repeating the oath, Washington leaned over and reverently kissed the Bible. Unlike Robinson, Washington was careful to publicly emphasize his faith in God and His Word, not run from it.

By acknowledging his Christian faith, our first president followed the tradition of the kings and queens of England for centuries before. The law of England required that:

… the king or queen, laying his or her hand upon the holy gospels, shall say, those things which I have here before promised I will perform and keep; so help me God. And then shall kiss the book.

Pope Benedict Gently Encourages Obama to Respect Life After Inauguration Day

The Vatican (LifeNews.com) -- Pope Benedict XVI gently encouraged new pro-abortion President Barack Obama to foster a respect for human life as president. The Catholic leader sent a telegram to the new president that didn't engage in negative rebuking of Obama's pro-abortion views but graciously prompted him to promote life.

The Pope sent his best wishes to Obama with an "assurance of my prayers that Almighty God will grant you unfailing wisdom and strength in the exercise of your high responsibilities."

The Vatican released the text of the missive, which the pontiff personally signed to the new American leader.

"Under your leadership may the American people continue to find in their impressive religious and political heritage the spiritual values and ethical principles," he wrote.

Those values, Pope Benedict said, "cooperate in the building of a truly just and free society, marked by respect for the dignity, equality and rights of each of its members, especially ... those who have no voice."

The leader of the Catholic Church said he would pray that Obama remembered that "so many of our brothers and sisters throughout the world yearn for liberation from the scourge of ... violence."

He also hope Obama would unite nations to "share in the banquet of life which God wills to set for the whole human family."

The communication was the second time the Pope has asked Obama to respect human life and not expand abortion during his presidency.

Pope Benedict XVI released his annual peace message in early December and it touched on a number of political subjects but also went after population control campaigns. He criticized efforts that rely on abortion or try to use reducing the birth rate as a method of economic development.

The Catholic leader's words came at a time when pro-life advocates were worried that incoming president Barack Obama will restore funding to the UNFPA and groups that promote and perform abortions in other countries.

Obama is expected to follow through on the latter, revoking the Mexico City Policy, later this week.

Contrasting positions of Obama, Bush on abortion

By The Associated Press – 22 minutes ago

President Barack Obama and his predecessor, George W. Bush, differ sharply on abortion and other reproductive-health issues. Here are some of their views:

___

Obama's position, from the official White House Web site:

"President Obama understands that abortion is a divisive issue, and respects those who disagree with him. However, he has been a consistent champion of reproductive choice and will make preserving women's rights under Roe v. Wade a priority in his Administration. He opposes any constitutional amendment to overturn the Supreme Court's decision in that case.

"President Obama was an original co-sponsor of legislation to expand access to contraception, health information, and preventive services to help reduce unintended pregnancies. Introduced in January 2007, the Prevention First Act will increase funding for family planning and comprehensive sex education that teaches both abstinence and safe sex methods. The Act will also end insurance discrimination against contraception, improve awareness about emergency contraception, and provide compassionate assistance to rape victims."

___

Bush's view, from a proclamation last week declaring National Sanctity of Human Life Day:

"All human life is a gift from our Creator that is sacred, unique, and worthy of protection. On National Sanctity of Human Life Day, our country recognizes that each person, including every person waiting to be born, has a special place and purpose in this world. We also underscore our dedication to heeding this message of conscience by speaking up for the weak and voiceless among us.

"The most basic duty of government is to protect the life of the innocent. My Administration has been committed to building a culture of life by vigorously promoting adoption and parental notification laws, opposing Federal funding for abortions overseas, encouraging teen abstinence, and funding crisis pregnancy programs. In 2002, I was honored to sign into law the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which extends legal protection to children who survive an abortion attempt. I signed legislation in 2003 to ban the cruel practice of partial-birth abortion, and that law represents our commitment to building a culture of life in America...

"The sanctity of life is written in the hearts of all men and women. On this day and throughout the year, we aspire to build a society in which every child is welcome in life and protected in law..."

Obama to Lift Ban on Funding for Groups Providing Abortions Overseas

President Obama will continue the back-and-forth of presidents before him by using the Roe v. Wade anniversary to allow non-governmental organizations working abroad to use U.S. funding to give counseling on or provide abortions.
By Major Garrett

FOXNews.com

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

President Obama will issue an executive order on Thursday reversing the Bush administration policy that bans the use of federal dollars by non-govermental organizations that discuss or provide abortions outside of the United States.

Obama will sign the executive order on the 36th anniversary of the landmark Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion in all 50 states.

The policy, known in governmental circles as the "Mexico City policy," requires any non-governmental organization to agree before receiving U.S. funds that they will "neither perform nor actively promote abortion as a method of family planning in other nations."

The language was announced at the United Nations International Conference on Population in 1984, and was approved by President Reagan and originally drafted by his assistant secretary of state, Alan Keyes.

Keyes ran unsuccessfully as the GOP nominee against Obama for the U.S. Senate in 2004.

President George Herbert Walker Bush continued Reagan's Mexico City policy.

President Bill Clinton issued an executive order lifting the ban on Jan. 22, 1993. President George W. Bush issued an executive order re-instating the ban on federal dollars for NGOs that discuss or provide abortions on Jan. 22, 2001.

Obama freezing pay of top staff; signs ethics rules

President Obama just announced that the pay of top White House employees is being frozen. The Associated Press says it will affect those in positions paying more than $100,000 a year.

"All of you are committed to building a more responsible government," Obama told top staff at a meeting now underway at the White House.

"Families are tightening their belts and so should Washington," Obama added.

The president also announced he's about to sign new ethics rules designed to restrict lobbying by current staff after they leave the administration.

9/11 Families Outraged by Obama Call to Suspend Guantanamo War Crimes Trials

Families of victims of terrorist attacks say they are outraged by President Obama's call to halt the trials of detainees at Guantanamo Bay.

FOXNews.com

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Family members of people killed on September 11 and in other terror attacks say they are outraged by President Obama's draft order calling for the suspension of war crimes trials of prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay.

"To me it's beyond comprehension that they would take the side of the terrorists," said Peter Gadiel, whose son, James, was killed at the World Trade Center on 9/11. "Many of these people have been released and been right back killing, right back at their terrorist work again."

Obama's request on the first full day of his presidency came as a draft order was being prepared ordering the closing of the Guantanamo prison within a year. A judge responded by halting the case against a Canadian detainee accused of killing an American soldier in Afghanistan, issuing a 120-day continuance in the case.

Islam film Dutch MP to be charged

BBC

A Dutch court has ordered prosecutors to put a right-wing politician on trial for making anti-Islamic statements.

Freedom Party leader Geert Wilders made a controversial film last year equating Islam with violence and has likened the Koran to Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf.

"In a democratic system, hate speech is considered so serious that it is in the general interest to... draw a clear line," the court in Amsterdam said.

Mr Wilders said the judgement was an "attack on the freedom of expression".

"Participation in the public debate has become a dangerous activity. If you give your opinion, you risk being prosecuted," he said.

Not only he, but all Dutch citizens opposed to the "Islamisation" of their country would be on trial, Mr Wilders warned.

"Who will stand up for our culture if I am silenced?" he added.

'Incitement'

The three judges said that they had weighed Mr Wilders's "one-sided generalisations" against his right to free speech, and ruled that he had gone beyond the normal leeway granted to politicians.

"The Amsterdam appeals court has ordered the prosecution of member of parliament Geert Wilders for inciting hatred and discrimination, based on comments by him in various media on Muslims and their beliefs," the court said in a statement.

"The court also considers appropriate criminal prosecution for insulting Muslim worshippers because of comparisons between Islam and Nazism made by Wilders," it added.

The court's ruling reverses a decision last year by the public prosecutor's office, which said Mr Wilders's comments had been made outside parliament as a contribution to the debate on Islam in Dutch society and that no criminal offence had been committed.

Prosecutors said on Wednesday that they could not appeal against the judgement and would open an investigation immediately.

Gerard Spong, a prominent lawyer who pushed for Mr Wilders's prosecution, welcomed the court's decision.

"This is a happy day for all followers of Islam who do not want to be tossed on the garbage dump of Nazism," he told reporters.

'Fascist book'

In March 2008, Mr Wilders posted a film about the Koran on the internet, prompting angry protests across the Muslim World.

The opening scenes of Fitna - a Koranic term sometimes translated as "strife" - show a copy of the holy book followed by footage of the bomb attacks on the US on 11 September 2001, London in July 2005 and Madrid in March 2004.

Pictures appearing to show Muslim demonstrators holding up placards saying "God bless Hitler" and "Freedom go to hell" also feature.

The film ends with the statement: "Stop Islamisation. Defend our freedom."

Dutch Prime Minister Jan Peter Balkenende said at the time that the film wrongly equated Islam with violence and served "no purpose other than to offend".

A year earlier, Mr Wilders described the Koran as a "fascist book" and called for it to be banned in "the same way we ban Mein Kampf", in a letter published in the De Volkskrant newspaper.

Mr Wilders has had police protection since Dutch director Theo Van Gogh was killed by a radical Islamist in 2004.

Correspondents say his Freedom Party (PVV), which has nine MPs in the lower house of parliament, has built its popularity largely by tapping into the fear and resentment of Muslim immigrants.

Today's Inauguration

Two quickie links with excerpts below....

1. Commentary by Ed Cline, "An Inauguration of Tyranny":
...At a cost of over $150 million, the inauguration of January 20th had the character of a royal coronation (or a biblical pageant, if you will), witnessed by millions in Washington and on television by millions around the world, secured by 8,000 police, 11,000 military personnel, 1,000 park rangers, and countless plainclothesmen, and reported by a euphoric press. The millions who thronged or thrilled to see Obama become the 44th president of the United States are comfortable with the idea of being ruled, of being told what to do and why to live -- and with the idea of seeing those who neither need nor want rulers overruled....
Read it all.

2. "Race Baiting at Obama Coronation":
Rev. Joseph Lowery said in his benediction at today's inauguration:
“We ask you to help us work for that day
when black will not be asked to give back,
when brown can stick around,
when yellow will be mellow,
when the red man can get ahead, man,
and when white will embrace what is right"
No doubt, "embracing what is right" will have much to do with wallowing in unearned guilt and self-loathing and serving as milch cows for Obama's brave new America of mutual submission to his new Declaration of Interdependence....

Christians In Iraq Persecuted And Murdered

Excerpt from this January 16, 2009, article in the Asia News (via this posting at Jihad Watch):
The lifeless body of a young Christian was found yesterday by the army in Mosul (Northern Iraq). The abandoned body uncovered in a street in the east of the city was that of 36 year old Chourik Bagrad.

AsiaNews sources in Mosul – a city with one and a half million inhabitants, 360 km north of Baghdad – confirmed that it was a an execution style killing: multiple gunshot wounds to the head. His body was later discarded in al-Bakr district, where it was found by police and brought to the morgue for an autopsy. Chourik Bagrad was a Christian from the Armenian Church and his brother works in Mosul University.

The same sources refer that a Christian was also kidnapped New Years Eve in Mosul. The man, whose name we choose not to publish for security reasons, was kidnapped and held hostage for four days. He was only freed after the payment of 50 thousand dollars ransom. During his detention he was tortured over and over again. “If we hadn’t paid the ransom – the source confirms – they would certainly have killed him. They are criminal gangs, who kidnap for money. The want the Christian’s money”.

[...]

The situation for Christians there is still tragic. In October alone 16 faithful were killed and 2000 families forced to flee. Groups linked to Al-Qaeda are operative in the area, targeting Christians in killing sprees, destroying their homes and properties, threatening them with letters, abductions and attacks. A hate campaign perfectly constructed to drive them from the land of their birth.

In 2007 Msgr. Paulo Farj Rahho, the Chaldean bishop of the diocese was killed, his body found on March 13th in abandoned land outside the city limits. During the attack that led to his kidnap the three men who were with him for his safety were killed. In 2007 the death toll of Mosul’s Christian community was 13: among them we remember Fr. Ragheed Gani massacred on June 3and another two priests. (DS)
As foretold in the Scriptures, the persecution of Christians will increase during the Latter Days.

Look to the Lord, for our Redemption is nigh!

19th St. Baptist's Glory: The Obamas
Family Attends Song-Filled Service

Barack Obama and his family attended services yesterday at one of the oldest historically black churches in Washington, thrilling a congregation that honored the president-elect for advancing the legacy of such civil-rights icons as Rosa Parks and the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.

Nineteenth Street Baptist Church, a Northwest Washington institution with a storied history dating back more than 200 years, was filled with hundreds of people who eagerly welcomed the Obamas for a service filled with spirit, song and Scripture....
The 19th Street Baptist Church is quite famous for historical reasons, the details of which can be found in the article further on from the above excerpt. Now the church is notorious, thanks to Obama Deification Syndrome.

Former terrorist says West ignoring real Hamas agenda

Chad Groening - OneNewsNow - 1/10/2009 4:15:00 AM

A former Palestinian terrorist says the West continues to pursue a failed idea that somehow terrorism against Israel will stop when the Palestinians get their own homeland.

Walid Shoebat is a former member of the Palestine Liberation Organization and a convert to Christianity. He now runs the Walid Shoebat Foundation, which is an organization that cries out for the justice of Israel and the Jewish people. Shoebat, author of the recently published God's War on Terror: Islam, Prophecy and the Bible, believes the recent terrorist rocket attacks by Hamas have nothing to do with wanting a Palestinian homeland.

"The core issue is not an issue of land whatsoever. It's an issue of wiping the state of Israel out. If you look at even suicide bombing -- historically, if you look from 1980 until 2003, let's say -- 224 suicide bombings out of 300 existed in Islamic countries with no occupation whatsoever," he notes. "So it's not simply the desire to create a Palestinian state. It is the desire to destroy the Jewish state, and that's what we see."

Shoebat contends this effort is being carried out by a huge network of Islamic enemies. "It's a rebel network involved between Hamas, Hezbollah, and Iran, Syria. Many Islamic countries are involved in this," he points out. "Saudi Arabia was funding...this kind of thing. So it's a huge network that we're dealing with."

Israel's right to exist

Posted: January 13, 2009
1:00 am Eastern

© 2009

England's Prince Harry used the slang "Paki" in a private video to refer to a Middle Eastern friend, and the world is outraged. He is forced to publicly apologize and is reprimanded by his military superiors. But when pro-Hamas demonstrators rally in the streets of Fort Lauderdale a few weeks ago calling for Jews to "go back to the ovens," there isn't even a blip on the screen. A pro-Hamas rally in Copenhagen, Denmark, this weekend chanted: "We want to kill all the Jews," "All the Jews should be slain," "They have no right to exist." Where is the outrage?

While the Sun Sentinel never even mentioned the chant in the article that covered the Fort Lauderdale event, they did quote one pro-Israel protester, Allyn Kanowsky of Coral Springs, who summarized what is going on very well: "If the Palestinians laid down their arms, there would be no war. If the Israelis laid down their arms, there would be no Israel."

That's what it's all about. Israel's right to exist.

Two little Jewish boys came to my door a few days ago selling chocolate. I ordered some not because I need more chocolate but, as I told them, because I want to bless Israel. Those who bless Israel are blessed and those who curse Israel are cursed. As Christians reading their One-Year Bible beginning in Genesis are reminded, this is the promise God made to Abraham and it wasn't a "limited time offer." I've not seen anything in the Bible to suggest that it expired at the coming of the Messiah.

I was shocked by how the propaganda about what was happening in the Middle East had permeated even these Jewish children who were raising money for their Hebrew school. One of the boys said, "Everyone is mad at Israel because they blew up a Hamas school." As I explained to them, this may be what's being reported, but the truth looks quite different.

The fact is: In 2005, thousands of Jews were pulled out of their homes and communities in Gaza. They tore down temples, dug up cemeteries and gave up land on the premise that it would somehow bring peace. Since that time, the terrorist group Hamas has launched 6,500 rockets into Israel, including 300 in a period of six days before the Israeli offensive started. Civilian areas were deliberately targeted in these attacks against the Jews.

It's all about self-defense.

But most of the media has given the false impression that Israel made an unprovoked attack on poor Palestinians who live in the Gaza Strip. The truth is that from 1993 through 2005, Hamas sent 113 suicide bombers into Israel to kill innocent civilians on buses, at malls, restaurants and hotels. Thousands of Hamas terror attacks killed 425 Israelis and wounded 2,233 in the last eight years.

My friend Don Feder writes, "If you're curious about what a Palestinian state would look like, consider Mumbai. Among 174 dead were a rabbi and his pregnant wife, who endured unbelievable torture (the wife was also sexually assaulted) before they were killed."

Around the globe, Jews are being assaulted and are the subject of protests. There have been arson attacks against Jewish congregations in England, France and Sweden. Feder said what's happening in Europe is "the worst anti-Semitic violence since Kristallnacht."

Former PLO terrorist Walid Shoebat – now a pro-Israel Christian – was a guest on my Faith2Action radio program last week. He committed a capital offense in Muslim law by converting to Christianity when he spent six-months studying the Bible in an effort to discredit it and to convert his wife to his Muslim faith.

I learned something in that interview. In a response to a caller's question, Shoebat gave some of the "names for Allah," which are nothing like the description of the Judeo-Christian God. Our God is referred to with names such as, Father, Savior, Prince of Peace, and Comforter, just to name a few. But the names of Allah he listed are: "the most proud one," "the creator of all deceivers," the one who causes death," and "the afflicter." Quite a contrast.

No, Islam is a "religion of peace" – suggest otherwise in, say, a cartoon, and you can count the dead bodies to find out just how peaceful they are.

Now, not surprisingly, President-elect Obama is reaching out to meet with the Hamas terrorists. What did you expect? They endorsed him, after all.

We in America may be getting what we deserve, but our greatest ally, Israel, I'm afraid, will also suffer greatly. Just another reason for the U.S. Supreme Court to verify this guy's citizenship in the second case by Philip J. Berg before the Court this Friday, and the case brought by attorney Orly Taitz, which the Court has agreed to consider taking a week from Friday.

Christians, when you pray for the peace of Jerusalem – as we've been commanded to do – pray also for the Supreme Court to take these cases to verify Obama's citizenship and uphold our Constitution.

Inauguration Madness

Having lived here in the greater D.C. area all my life, I’ve seen twelve inaugurations come and go (1960 – 2004). Some local disruption is, of course, unavoidable for those of us living so close to the seat of federal power. But the upcoming inauguration of Barack Husssein Obama, “The One,” takes the prize for madness morphing into worship. Even the Big East basketball coaches are considering how much to accommodate Inauguration 2009:
..."Whenever you have a change of presidents, it's a special time," [Gerogetown Coach] Thompson said during a conference call with Big East coaches yesterday. "But this, as we start to welcome our 44th president, is a very special time here -- for me personally and for a lot of people."

And while Georgetown is the sole Big East school in the nation's capital, Thompson isn't the only coach who's weighing how to incorporate Tuesday's inauguration into the highly structured lives of his student-athletes....
Did Coach Thompson and his cohorts hold previous inaugurations in such high esteem? If so, I don't recall hearing so.

I first became aware of what has turned out to be absolute inauguration madness at the dinner table on Thanksgiving Day, when Mr. AOW and I joined our neighbors for the feast. Before we had barely lifted our forks came the question: “So, how much are you asking to rent out your spare rooms for the week of the Inauguration?” The ensuing conversation, an animated one if not an outright battle of words complete with frenetic gestures, lasted well over two hours, long after we had finished dessert. “This Inauguration is unprecedented! George Bush is leaving office!” Silence fell, albeit briefly, when I mentioned that Bush would have been leaving office anyway.

Getting to the heart of the meaning of the word unprecedented proved difficult. I kept asking, “Why is it unprecedented?” I got no definitive reply even when I ventured, “Because Obama is black? Is that it?” The reaction was a firm negative. At the dinner table and on into the den on that Thanksgiving Day, I never did find out exactly why the supporters of “The One” felt that this 2009 Inauguration was so different – except for the predictions of 4,000,000 coming to town to celebrate. By the way, the large numbers haven’t materialized. After the first rhapsodic reaction to the election of "The One," D.C. area houses and rooms for rent on Craig’s list have gone begging, as have many tickets for the various inaugural balls:
"The question is, who's buying these tickets?" asked a D.C. event planner who didn't want to be identified because, hey, she wants to work again. "This giant gravy train everyone was expecting isn't coming."
In the run-up days to the festivities, we’ve seen unprecedented obsession for an event which our Founders foresaw as a time of gravity for the orderly changing of the executive branch of our federal govenment. Instead of such a dignified change, however, we've seen newspaper and television ads for a variety of Obama and Inauguration memorabilia. According to this article in the Canadian Press:
There are Barack Obama action figures, coffee mugs, puzzles, bobbleheads, T-shirts, posters, baseball caps, plaques and wrist watches.

Not enough? How about some shot glasses, beer mugs, colouring books, mints, commemorative plates, chocolate bars, paper dolls, coins and lapel pins...
In keeping with the mania and groveling at the feet of "The One," Giant Food, one of our largest grocery chains, is running a full-page ad with a banner announcing “Yes, We Can,” and is offering Presidential Platters, one of which has been dubbed the “West Wing Platter.” This particular platter was previously known as the “Wings of Plenty Platter.” Indeed, we've even heard about the possibility of shortages of milk and bread. Amazing!

We’ve also seen unprecedented security, including the closing of all the Virginia-side bridges into D.C. As Washington Post columnist Marc Fisher stated in his essay “A Celebration of Democracy Becomes an Orgy of Security,” a long read but with exactly the right details and tone:
Inauguration madness has hit a new and disturbing peak with the Secret Service's effort to turn Washington into Inauguration Island, cutting the District off from as much of the outside world as possible on Jan. 20.

Virginians will bear the brunt of the over-the-top restrictions, as every single Potomac River crossing inside the Capital Beltway is shut down to vehicular traffic for the entire day. They're not just closing the bridges to cars, they're even blockading the highways -- vast stretches of the GW Parkway and I-395 will be closed, along with a preposterously long list of other roads.

If Inauguration Day were some kind of holiday, the road closings would be awful enough -- another sign of a reckless security apparatus extending its elbows simply because it can. But in fact, that day is one on which many thousands of commuters must go to work, in addition to the hundreds of thousands who will attend inaugural festivities. The message from the authorities is, hey, take Metro, even as the very same officials warn that the transit system is almost certain to be wildly overrun.

Why cut off Virginians' access to Washington, but not Maryland's? What is so frightening about the bridges over the Potomac that is not true of the major bridges, avenues and highways that bring Maryland drivers in over the Anacostia River and along land routes from Montgomery and Prince George's counties? The issue cannot be proximity to the Mall and the federal enclave, because they're not shutting down only the Memorial, 14th Street and Teddy Roosevelt bridges, but also the Key and Chain bridges, which are farther from the District's core than are some of the bridges from Maryland.

I asked Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine whether the closings were a result of security or congestion concerns, and he said the issue was the gridlock that would result if, for example, people got terribly backed up and frustrated and even abandoned their vehicles on or near the bridges.

Later that day, the governor called back to clarify that security is indeed part of the rationale: "We're not closing them because of a worry about a bomb coming in or something like that so much. But there is a public safety component. We predicted that if we did not close the bridges, there would just be an immediate lockdown because of the congestion; it would just gridlock up. And then we would not be able to move emergency vehicles if there was some public safety emergency."

That is a legitimate concern, but couldn't the objective of keeping a path clear for emergency vehicles be met by reserving a lane entirely for official vehicles, or even closing just one bridge?

Virginians may be excused for wondering what it is they did to deserve this. After all, they just voted for a Democrat for president for the first time in 44 years, and what do they get for it? A virtual blockade.

But wait. Northern Virginians may not win the prize for most disrupted populace on Inauguration Day. Vast stretches of the District, including residential neighborhoods outside the federal core, have been declared bus-only zones. In places such as Dupont Circle, Logan Circle, Capitol Hill and virtually all of Southwest, residents will be banned from parking on the streets where they live. What those residents are supposed to do with their cars is unknown.

Only a government obsessed with security and blind to the realities of city life could issue a plan like this. In a real city, one that is permitted to govern itself, the authorities would feel -- and bow to -- pressure from the people who need to be able to use their city.
Please note that closing the Virginia-side bridges also closes feasible access to many of the hospital facilities in D.C., particularly Georgetown University Hospital, typically accessed via Chain Bridge and Key Bridge, both of which are miles from the Capitol Building. Patients, critical and otherwise, will just have to make do as best they can. After all, “The One” must receive all accolades and worship.

I will be staying home on Inauguration Day – my classes for the day had to be canceled because of the expected gridlock on the roads of even the outer suburbs:
Emergency-planning officials have just three words for Northern Virginians who plan to head to the Mall, get to work, drive their cars or go anywhere on Inauguration Day: Make a Plan.
As of January 13, 2009, and by order of President Bush, our capital city is under a state of emergency:
President George W. Bush has declared an emergency in the District of Columbia that will let the nation's capital tap deeper into federal coffers for Barack Obama's inauguration.

Bush said Tuesday that an emergency exists and ordered federal aid to supplement the $15 million in federal funds already appropriated for the event.
Even cell-phone servers have emergency plans!
...[N]o doubt many of the estimated 2 million people expected to gather on the Mall will simultaneously hold their cellphones aloft to snap and send photos, call friends and family, and send text messages like, "omg, yes we did!"

But please don't, wireless network operators say.

For months, the carriers have been preparing for a predicted explosion of cellphone traffic during inauguration weekend as millions of visitors are expected to gather in the Washington area for festivities. Wireless operators say they plan to boost capacity at cell sites on the mall, along the Beltway and underground on Metro so that more calls can be placed at the same time. By the time Jan. 20 arrives, they will have spent millions of dollars to add staff for the event, rolled in extra cell towers on truck beds and expanded bandwidth on wired parts of their networks.

Even with those plans in place, they predict some hiccups.

"You can add hundreds of thousands of lanes to a highway, but if millions of people go for a drive at same time, you can still have a jam," said John Johnson, a spokesman for Verizon Wireless. "There are just so many unknowns."

The preparations for mobile devices are as much of a priority for District inauguration planners as coordinating Metro rail and bus schedules and bringing in enough portable toilets. For Obama, who used the Web and text messaging to fuel his campaign success, it will be the first inauguration in which cellphones are as ubiquitous among youth and professionals as they are among boomers and soccer moms...
The least time I checked, the ratio of portable toilets to users was 5000 to 1, except for the VIP's, who will get trailers with flush toilets. How will the trucks used to service those toilets get into the District? Not from the Virginia side!

Meanwhile, the worshipers are even now gathering in hordes in Washington, D.C. On Sunday, January 18, the first of many special events, including a concert featuring U2, Bruce Springsteen, Beyonce, John Mellencamp, Usher, Shakira, Sheryl Crow, Josh Groban and James Taylor, with "The One" also scheduled to appear, will be given at the Lincoln Memorial; attendees have been advised to take their seats no later than 8:30 A.M. on what promises to be a record-cold day, even though the concert doesn't begin until 2:30 P.M. Indeed, rental cars are already milling around on our highways and byways, and cabbies are driving slowly and taking the long way around.

For the remainder of this 2009 Inauguration cycle, I'll stay on watch — from the comfort of my own home, of course. Will I watch Barack Hussein Obama take the oath of office on January 20? Yes, on television. I'll even pray for him because Christians are so commanded. But I'll never trust him. He'll never be "The One" for me.
